Is the best FTP Client that i found, is very intuitive to use.ĭeezer - Still works on the Gingerbread (I think Spotify too). This is a must have in all android phones (2.0+).īaconReader - This is my reddit client for all my Android phones (works from Gingerbread to Pie, maybe Froyo?).įTPDroid - The Best FTP Server in the market, works in Gingerbread too! (Needs Root)ĮS File Explorer Cupcake - Best file manager for older phones, when ES weren't a bloatware. LauncherPro by Federico Carnales - This launcher is superb, the king of launchers, because is simple and fast, not consuming too much RAM. The apps that I don't find there, I try in the APKUpdater app. The majority of my apps I get from ApkMirror, ApkPure or Apk4Fun, they have a good respository of older apps. I don't use Play Services (any Android smartphone with <512Mb ram can't run this properly), so I have my apps from internet (the Play Store for Gingerbread phones still exist?). I have a Android Gingerbread Device in home that I use sometimes (it has a qwerty keyboard!).

And extra special thanks to this community for giving my somewhat newer Android devices another lease on life that isn't living in the recycling bin!

I should probably start making an archive of as many APKs as I can find. So if anyone knows where to find compatible software with old Android versions, or has any links to APKs that are compatible, that would be greatly appreciated. Android 4.0+ is still supported by most applications due to being not that old, and still having a great market share in some areas. APKs for older Android versions are seemingly vanishing from the Internet.

The issue is not only finding the names of applications, but if I do manage to find one, then finding a compatible APK is almost impossible nowadays.

I've accumulated quite a number of old Android devices that run on either 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingerbread which cannot be upgraded, and I've been itching to put some of these to good use instead of just sitting around, but I can't seem to come up with any good ideas, let alone find any applications that can give these things a new purpose! For a possible answer, I found this community which has a wealth of ideas for Android devices running on Android 4.0+, so I was wondering.Īre there any applications or games that can run on Android 2.2 or 2.3? A few particular things that would interest me are:
